JAPANESE VOCALOIDS




MEIKO


Meiko is a Vocaloid DTM (Desktop Music) software created by Crypton Future Media. She utilizes the older Vocaloid engine, the predecessor for Vocaloid2, and her voice is based on singer Meiko Haigo. Although rougher sounding, Meiko and her companion Kaito are able to incorporate much broader voice range than Hatsune Miku and Kagamine Rin/Kagamine Len.

As a mascot character, she is the older sister figure for the Vocaloid group. She wears red, and carries around a microphone stand. She also is frequently seen drinking from One Cup Ozeki, a sake widely available through vending machines.


KAITO


Kaito is a Vocaloid DTM (Desktop Music) software created by Crypton Future Media. He utilizes the older Vocaloid engine, the predecessor for Vocaloid2, and his voice is based on singer Naoto Fuuga. Although rougher sounding, Kaito and his companion Meiko are able to incorporate much broader voice range than Miku and Rin/ Len.

As a mascot character, he is the older brother figure for the entire Vocaloid group, frequently called "Onii-san". He wears a white coat and a blue muffler. He is very popular among the female users of NicoNico Douga. He is very fond of ice cream.

                                                                    

AKAITO


Akaito is basically Kaito, but in a red color scheme instead of his usual blue. 赤 is the kanji for red, which is read as あか (aka). So a Red Kaito = AKAito.

His voice is usually lower octave than Kaito's range.
He also likes peppers (hot, spicy) while Kaito likes ice cream (cold, sweet).






Kikaito

kikaito is A fanmade Vocaloid based on Kaito. He is another brother in the 始音 Shion (assumed named) family.

He has a robot-like body; his hair is blond and his eyes are yellow.

His voice is usually two octaves lower than Kaito's range.




Nigaito

nigaito is A fanmade Vocaloid based on Kaito. He is another brother in the 始音 Shion (assumed named) family.

His coat has very long sleeves and his color scheme is green; his personality is known to be very shy.

He is a Yanderoid, and is good friend (or lover?) of Juon Kiku. His color scheme is purple, and his design consists of bandages and body wraps.

His voice is more higher pitched than Kaito's.




HATSUNE MIKU



Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) is Crypton Future Media's singing synthesizer based on Yamaha's Vocaloid2. It also refers to the mascot character of the same name. The name is a word play: Hatsune(初音) meaning First Sound, and Miku (ミク) deriving from the Japanese slang for Mixer. The official design was created by KEI: http://kei-garou.net.

Due to her popularity, several fan-made deriviations of Miku exists.
Akita Neru

akita neru in phonetic reading it sounds like "I quit. Going to sleep." (Akita. Neru) She started out as a meme on 2chan, where a troll user started threadcrapping all Vocaloid related threads. Some user commented that he wouldn't get angry only if the troll was a cute girl.

Thus Akita Neru, a tsundere non-Vocaloid net-chara was born. Her image color is orangish yellow and her character item is a cell phone. Her design was created by Smith Hioka (スミス・ヒオカ).

Neru is sometimes written as a Miku wannabe, others as the anti-hero of the Vocaloid personage. She mainly represents forum/bbs trolls, those who don't have enough patience to use the Vocaloid software, or those who gave up using Vocaloid.





KAGAMINE RIN

Kagamine Rin (鏡音リン) is the second singing synthesizer from Crypton Future Media based on Yamaha's Vocaloid2. The official design was created by KEI: http://kei-garou.net. Her voice is based on voice actress Asami Shimoda, who among other things voiced the Futami twins Ami and Mami in the game IDOLM@STER.
KAGAMINE LEN


Kagamine Len (鏡音レン) is the second singing synthesizer from Crypton Future Media to be based on Yamaha's Vocaloid2. This package is unique in that there are two separate voice samples available: one for a boy's voice and one for a girl's voice. By utilizing the 'gender factor' function, users can create a more colorful tone ranging between the two. His name Kagamine means Mirror(鏡) Sound(音) and implies this character.

The official design was created by KEI: http://kei-garou.net. His voice as well as Kagamine Rin's is based on voice actress Asami Shimoda, who among other things voiced Futami Ami and Futami Mami in the game IDOLM@STER.



Honne Dell


Dell is Voyakiloid (fail Vocaloid), who is based on Len and is always smoking. He represents failed Len users/songs. Characterized as a workaholic, irritable and a black-hat hacker (called crackers in Japan). He is conceptualized by Caffein, the same artist who illustrated and conceptualized Haku.




Magane len


Is the Metal version of Len. He also goes by the collective last name for the Heavy Metal Vocaloids.

He has light blond hair in a ponytail. And a tattoo on his right shoulder.








MEGURINE LUKA


Megurine Luka (巡音ルカ) is the third singing synthesizer from Crypton Future Media to be based on Yamaha's VOCALOID2. The official design was created by KEI. Her voice is based on voice actress Asakawa Yuu, who among other things voiced Rider in the Fate/stay night TV anime and Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh.


MEGURINE LUKI


Fanmade Vocaloid that is the male version of Megurine Luka.


 
KAMUI GAKUPO


Kamui Gakupo (神威がくぽ) is the name of the Vocaloid featured in Internet Co. Ltd.'s singing synthesizer, Gackpoid (がくっぽいど), based on Yamaha's Vocaloid2. The name means "the might of Heaven" (神威) "Gakupo" (がくぽ), which is derived from Gackt, the name of the artist which provides the voice for Gakupo.



GAKUKO


A female version of Kamui Gakupo.
GUMI
 



GUMI is the name of the Vocaloid featured in Internet Co. Ltd.'s singing synthesizer, Megpoid (メグッポイド), based on Yamaha's Vocaloid2. It is voiced by Megumi Nakajima and designed by Yuuki Masami.
